About Dunsborough
The award-winning town of Dunsborough delivers the perfect coastal holiday 'down south' experience. It is hard to believe this vibrant town has a permanent population of just 4000, when in peak summer season numbers triple and the town is buzzing with life. Originally the location of a whaling station and a few beach shacks, Dunsborough has now become a popular family holiday destination and is well known for its beautiful beaches, great shopping and contemporary, yet relaxed vibe.
Just over two hours drive south of Perth and 20 minutes drive west of Busselton (See next page - Area Initiatives). Dunsborough is the northernmost town of the Margaret River region, located on the picturesque Geographe Bay.

About Busselton
10th November 2014 - Property Observer
Busselton is part of a national trend. Coastal centres traditionally based on tourism and retirement are diversifying, with greater spending on infrastructure. Cairns and the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and Port Macquarie in New South Wales are other examples.

Current infrastructure events impacting Busselton include :-
$120 million hospital upgrade, an
$85 million airport upgrade and
$45 million in spending on a Busselton Foreshore master plan.

Chairman of REIWA's Busselton branch, Joe White, says Busselton is no longer seen as just a "seaside holiday town". It has experienced growth with young families and FIFO workers choosing to stay "rather than use the market as a stepping stone". He says: "The volumes and consistency of non-seasonal sales show the market is alive and building activity is high as the population grows. It's cheaper to build a new home here than in Perth and the infrastructure gets better all the time, with schools and shops all within proximity to a great beachfront with a village atmosphere.

With a resident population of around 32,000 people, Busselton has one of the fastest growing population's outside the Perth metropolitan area, experiencing an average annual growth rate of around 4% per annum. In February 2012, the Western Australia Planning Commission published an update on population forecasts for Busselton indicating a population increase by more than 58% by 2026 to 55,300 persons. This is regarded as significant growth and far exceeds previous predictions.

To accommodate Busselton's population growth, the State Government is planning a new state of the art hospital and a new campus of the South West Institute of Technology, to improve education and training in the region. Housing estates are also being expanded within Busselton, Vasse and at Dunsborough to the south of the CBD.
